Music for Myself

When working on other people's projects, many aspects of the music that I wrote were predetermined. The edit and story beats defined the music's structure while the director's tastes and vision defined its tone. Between projects, I wrote my own music just to see what I had to say free of another medium's needs. Left to my own devices, it turns out all I want to do is write relaxing piano music all day long.

I love writing long melodies, the kinds of melodies that usually couldn't fit within a scene. It's also liberating to let the music unfold of its own accord without having to mold it into the shape of a story. If I find time to return to composing, this is where I'll land.
