Urban Games
Urban Games was the result of a state-backed push to lure Hollywood professionals to the ever-expanding Chinese film industry. That effort successfully convinced stunt director Bob Brown to pen and direct this story about an extreme sports athlete (of course) who uncovers a corporate conspiracy surrounding the death of his brother. The original composer was unavailable to make revisions the film's producers were requesting. Apparently, the film's running sequences, and there are a lot of them, lacked sufficient tension and freshness, so I was hired to rewrite around half an hour of music. At the time, I had gotten tired of writing heavy-handed end-of-the-world orchestral music, so it was nice to work for filmmakers who wanted a more subdued, modern aesthetic.
This was my first "real" film assignment. It put me on the map and landed me my first agent.
